A repeating click at the drive sprocket suggests a different investigation from scraping along the return guide. Run at a safe diagnostic speed and note whether the symptom follows a specific link, a sprocket rotation or a carrier position.

Check Edge Wear

Polished or heavily worn plate edges often indicate lateral contact or misalignment. Inspect shaft parallelism, sprocket axial position, guide spacing and whether a bent rod is pulling the strands sideways.
