Custom Hollow Pin Chain RFQ Drawing Checklist
A useful RFQ drawing does more than show the chain outline. It explains the interfaces that make the hollow pin necessary: rods, carriers, sprockets, centre distances and retention hardware. The goal is to remove assumptions before a supplier prepares a final configuration.
Show Core Dimensions
Include chain pitch, roller or bush diameter, inner width, hollow-pin bore and overall width. If you are replacing an existing chain, distinguish measured dimensions from nominal or catalogue values.
Show The Rod
Add a section through the hollow pin with rod diameter, free span, end retention and any carrier mounted on the rod. Dimension the distance between chain strands when two chains are used.
Show Attachment Spacing
Mark which pitches receive rods or fixtures. If the pattern repeats every second, third or irregular pitch, show that sequence clearly rather than describing it only in an email.
Show The Sprocket
Provide tooth count, shaft bore and any existing sprocket drawing when replacement compatibility matters. If sprockets will also be supplied, include shaft and hub constraints.
Add Duty Notes
State moving mass, conveyor speed, starts per hour, shock or jam conditions, operating hours, environment and temperature. These notes connect the geometry to the actual duty.
Include Revision Control
Give the drawing a revision, date and contact name. When dimensions change during design, a clear revision trail reduces the chance of quoting an obsolete attachment or centre distance.

Common Questions
Is a photo enough for a custom quote?
Photos help identification, but a dimensioned drawing is much better for custom rods, carriers and paired-strand layouts.
What if some dimensions are unknown?
Mark them as to-be-confirmed rather than guessing. The supplier can identify which measurements are critical.
Should I include tolerance?
Include functional tolerances where they matter to the interface; do not add arbitrary tight tolerances that the machine does not require.
Why include quantity?
Quantity and required chain length affect manufacturing planning and the way the quotation is prepared.
